The BU MPP has not had a single accident resulting in lost working days anywhere in the world for two years
|
The Business Unit Material Protection Products (BU MPP) has done what no other business unit was able to do in the history of LANXESS: For two years, MPP has not had a single accident resulting in lost working days.
Jens Marten, Safety Officer of the BU MPP, says their success is largely due to the dedication and circumspect work habits of the employees. “We are living a culture of safety that is backed up by the employees. They are actively involved.”
In addition to circumspect employees in laboratories and plants, the safety team also made a vital contribution to success. “The team is always in contact with MPP employees, informing them about potential hazards. Regular safety campaigns are conducted by the safety team, especially in the Uerdingen Preventol plant and in the chemical laboratories in Leverkusen as well as outside sales around the world, where the hazards are the most severe,” Marten explains. The team also works closely with advisory departments such as occupational safety and health, supervisors and the works council in order to continuously improve safety standards.
In recognition for their performance over the last two years, every MPP employee will receive a small gift from BU management over the next few weeks. “This is not only intended as a gesture of our appreciation, but also as an incentive for coming years which we hope will be accident-free,” Marten emphasises.
The BU MPP currently has approximately 240 employees in laboratories, plants, offices and outside sales around the world.
